    If you are looking for a career in construction, we offer paid summer internship opportunities at the following office locations (Bakersfield, Brea, San Diego, Santa Fe Springs) and also at some of our project sites in our Southern and Central California regions. Our Summer Internship Program is very learning intensive, so students can expect to do challenging work and to engage in activities that will broaden their awareness of the great career opportunities in heavy civil construction and at Griffith Company.

    What you can expect

    As a summer intern you can expect to handle a variety of real world tasks in support of our Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers and or field personnel. Below is an example of intern responsibilities:

    • Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision)
    • Assist in developing and maintaining CPM schedule
    • Track submittals, RFC’s and contract change orders
    • Track daily cost vs. project budget
    • Track quantities and equipment
    • Track project logs
    • Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process
    • Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work
    • Complete material and quantity take off according to scope of work
    • Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements
    • Diesel emissions control plans and monitoring
    • Preparation of work plans
    • Storm water protection plan
    • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

    You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to accept. After a successful experience, you will gain a competitive advantage towards future employment.   • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Qualifications

    Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas or a very similar area:

    • Civil Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Construction Management
    • Mathematics
