  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Position Description

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the installation, control, and maintenance of Windows workstations and peripherals within the organization while providing the highest level of customer service. Determines source and nature of computer malfunction using diagnostic and application software. Adjust, repairs, and replaces malfunctioning equipment as needed. Position provides tracking, documentation, data collection, auditing and metrics for the computer hardware and software used by internal customers. Some vendor interaction as position is responsible for evaluating client technologies.

    Essential Job Functions And Basic Duties

    • Install hardware and software on new and existing computers, printers, PDAs, laptops, and related equipment.
    • Provide level II hardware support to users in the areas of discrepancies, malfunctioning equipment, upgrades, maintenance and repair (Examples: Install LAN cards, install new monitor)
    • Escalate to issues to Windows Administrators, Applications, CNC, Telecom and Network Administrators as needed
    • Provide software support to users in the use and functions of software packages (Example: Microsoft Office)
    • Provide on-going preventative maintenance and repair of computers, PDAs, printers, monitors and related equipment.
    • Participate in staff and project meetings
    • Respond to customer service inquiries and requests generated from the work order system.
    • Must document troubleshooting steps and or resolutions into work order system.
    • Analyze and evaluate new systems, equipment and solutions for viability of use. Make recommendations to customers and management staff.
    • Project involvement, team lead on specialized projects (development, schedules, and documentation)
    • Train and assist users with the use and functions of software and hardware equipment (computers, printers, PDAs, etc.).
    • Maintain an up to date knowledge of repair practices, polices, and technical specifications of microcomputer and printer hardware.
    • Complete internal and vendor required documentation related to services, warranty tracking, inventory maintenance, and repair history recording.
    • Contact customers as needed to discuss specific symptoms of equipment failure, cost and nature of repairs required, and possible solutions to equipment problems.
    • Contact vendors for technical support and parts procurement both electronically and by telephone.
    • Drive company vehicle to customer locations in order to perform repairs or pick up and deliver equipment.
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Associates degree, Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A+ Certification, MCP, Dell Certification.

    Experience & Industry Knowledge

    Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a PC technician or related position with increasing responsibilities in the maintenance, repair, operation, and installation of hardware and software for computers, PDAs, printers, etc.

    Knowledge

    Knowledge of industry technologies, concepts, and methods. Knowledge of troubleshooting steps, Help Desk software and IT related processes.

    Skills/Abilities

    • Experience in computer hardware and software technologies
    • Demonstrated delivery of excellent customer service
    • Experience in training end users
    • Must be able to create good written technical documentation
    • Excellent verbal and electronic communications skills
    • Experience and knowledge in hardware and software window systems technologies (Windows Domain environment, MS Office, Microsoft operating systems, and related client applications)
    • Ability to work in a team and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management.
    • A valid Driver’s License, ability to maintain an acceptable driving record and current and valid vehicle insurance requirements
