Assistant Superintendent

Trademark Concrete is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the day-to-day field operations and successful execution of specialty concrete projects. Working closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and field crews, the Assistant Superintendent will help coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, scheduling, and daily construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project plans and specifications. The Assistant Superintendent will play an active role in the field, helping translate project plans and schedules into coordinated construction activities. This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with field crews, general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and is interested in developing into a Superintendent and field leader within Trademark Concrete. This is a hands-on position that provides the opportunity to gain experience across all phases of specialty concrete construction while working alongside experienced field leadership.

Job Description

The Assistant Superintendent will support the Superintendent in managing the day-to-day field operations of specialty concrete projects. This position is responsible for helping coordinate crews, materials, equipment, scheduling, quality control, and site logistics while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Assist the Superintendent with daily planning and coordination of field operations.
2. Help coordinate labor, manpower, materials, equipment, and deliveries to maintain project schedules.
3. Review plans, specifications, details, and project documents to understand upcoming work and identify potential conflicts.
4. Assist with layout, elevations, dimensions, and field verification as required.
5. Monitor work in progress to ensure construction is being performed in accordance with plans, specifications, approved shop drawings, and Trademark standards.
6. Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, surveyors, and other trades working on the project.
7. Communicate daily with field crews regarding scope, sequencing, quality expectations, and safety requirements.
8. Assist with planning and sequencing concrete pours, forming, reinforcing, embeds, finishing, and other specialty concrete operations.
9. Identify field conflicts or constructability issues and communicate them to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
10. Assist with resolving field issues and implementing approved solutions.
11. Monitor project progress and provide updates to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
12. Assist with daily reports, manpower tracking, timekeeping, production tracking, and other required project documentation.
13. Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient jobsite.
14. Support and enforce Trademark’s safety policies and project-specific safety requirements.
15. Participate in pre-pour meetings, inspections, quality-control activities, and other project coordination meetings.
16. Assist with punch-list work, project closeout, and final completion activities.
17. Develop working knowledge of Trademark’s construction methods, equipment, materials, and quality standards.
18. Take on increasing responsibility and leadership as experience and knowledge develop.

The Assistant Superintendent position is intended to provide hands-on experience across all phases of specialty concrete construction. As the individual develops their technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ability to manage field operations, there will be opportunities to advance into a Superintendent role and take on greater responsibility within Trademark Concrete.

Position Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
2. Previous construction or concrete experience preferred.
3. Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
4. Strong communication and organizational skills.
5. Ability to effectively coordinate with field crews and project team members.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they impact the work.
7. Ability to work in an active construction environment and adapt to changing project conditions.
8. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and project documentation software.
9. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
10. OSHA or other construction safety training is a plus.
11. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop within the specialty concrete industry.
