Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain estimates in Trimble B2W (or similar estimating platform)
- Build estimate structure / WBS from pay item lists and scope breakdowns
- Perform takeoffs using Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar
- Area takeoffs (paving, demo, grading, etc.)
- Linear takeoffs (striping, curb, sawcut, trench, etc.)
- Understand cross sections, and apply to bid strategy.
- Import/export pay item lists (Excel) and generate estimate reports/bid tabs
- Compare pay quantities vs takeoff quantities and flag discrepancies
- Coordinate vendor/sub quotes (materials, striping, trucking, etc.)
- Request quotes, track coverage/exclusions, log pricing and compliance notes
- Prepare complete bid backup packages (takeoffs, quotes, worksheets, reports)
- Support job walks as needed (notes/photos/scope clarifications)

Position Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong plan/spec navigation with basic quantity calculations (LF, SF/SY, CY, tons)
- Proficient with takeoff tools (Bluebeam/PlanSwift/OST or similar)
- Solid Excel skills (cleaning data, importing pay items, basic formulas)
- Organized and detail-driven: can manage multiple bids and documentation standards
- Professional communication with vendors/subcontractors (phone/email)
- Experience with Trimble B2W
- Public works bid exposure (pay items, addenda, bid forms, specs)
- Paving/grading/striping familiarity
- Trimble Business Center (TBC) experience is a plus (not required)
Ideal Candidate / Add-On Responsibilities (Highly Desired)
- Motivated, self-starter mindset: takes ownership of assigned bids, follows through without being chased, and communicates status early when blockers come up.
- Willing to take on utility adjustment bid and Project Management end-to-end:
- Identify and track utility adjustment opportunities (plans/specs, agency portals, bid boards, outreach)
- Contact utility owners/representatives and gather requirements, docs, and constraints
- Build the scope, quantities, and pricing and assemble a complete bid package
- Submit bids and maintain a log of bid activity, follow-ups, and outcomes

What Success Looks Like (90-Day Targets)
Target goals:
- Produces accurate takeoffs with clean, reproducible backup
- Sets up estimates correctly and consistently (WBS, crews, equipment, quantities)
- Maintains complete quote logs and organized bid folders
- Flags scope/quantity issues early and supports smooth bid reviews
